“The rest of the world is watching this election very closely and praying...”
Thu Jun 19, 2008 at 01:28:22 PM PDT
This coming election is as important to people outside as it is to us:
"In the UK I think the coverage of the American election has probably been greater than the coverage of the British election because the rest of the world is definitely watching this election very closely and praying for the right result. And I think it’s important that you make sure the right result happens and there’s someone in there who’s gonna do something about the problems in America and the rest of the world."
I have no idea how to write this diary so I will just write it in reverse and post it (otherwise it’ll never get posted) because I just want to share it with you. More below the fold:
I just saw this short video. It was posted by a band from Leeds, England, on its message board about 3 weeks ago. Here’s the full transcript of a message from Rock the Vote for those of you who prefer to read (I will post the video too):

Chinese Don't Take Kindly to Orwellian Smears
Thu Apr 19, 2007 at 07:19:20 PM PDT
During the first day after the Virginia Tech shootings many Chinese were under the impression that the gunman was Chinese. Apparently Michael Sneed of the Chicago Sun-Times reported prematurely that the shooter was a Chinese national. This spread quickly across China and among the Chinese here in the U.S.
The Chinese were under a state of shock and embarrassment, deep shame and loss of face.

eBay issues strong call to action on Net Neutrality today. For Real!
Sat Aug 05, 2006 at 02:16:09 PM PDT
Dear Kossaks: Below is my original diary which I posted two days ago. It turned into a cyber mystery, because the letter sent out by eBay President and CEO Meg Whitman that same day, was thought to have been possibly a spoof. I emailed eBay and got a reply back today saying that it was indeed from them. I wanted to make sure the record was set straight.
I want to also thank my fellow Kossaks for looking out for me and offering their support and knowledge on the issue.
This issue is about Network Neutrality. And my first diary fell victim to this new "bizarro world" and the fact that we need to be careful about information and what is really going on. If you are paying attention out there, the issue is unfolding and getting more convoluted as we speak. We are also under assault as the right tries co-opt and infiltrate our modes of communication (see the recent "Al Gore's Penguin Army," a video playing on YouTube.com, that was made to look like it came from an amateur but really came from, who else, Exxon). Below is my original diary:
eBay issues strong call to action on Net Neutrality today.

Today eBay Inc. President and CEO Meg Whitman sent a rare email to all its users urging strong action on this issue. She said she hopes something can be done before it's too late.
Whitman said she felt she must act because increduoulsly lawmakers are deciding right now if the internet should remain free to all its users -- or if it should be divided into two main tiers controlled by the biggest companies. She explains how much power they wield. She offered this link for members to act, www.ebaymainstreet.com/netneutrality
This is my first diary, so I don't know how to direct you to Whitman's letter. A friend, who has an account on eBay, forwarded it to me today because he knows I think it is a huge deal. I just wanted to get the word out that the issue of Network Neutality is critical, and that the fight for it has only just begun.
