It's MY Party and we will do as we want to...

Thu Mar 06, 2008 at 12:21:36 AM PDT

I recently have been reading a lot of my favorite blogs and sites, including this one, and I am getting just a little tired of the great Rabble of Independents and Newbies harping on what the Democratic Party MUST and NEEDS to do...

After all, you are guests in our, MY, Primary. This our, MY, Party, and we will do as we want to!

A few points in that vein, below the fold....

March in My Name, Impeachment Now!

Sat Dec 01, 2007 at 12:10:22 PM PDT

John Nirenberg, a 60 year old author, veteran and retired professor has begun a long walk today to ask Speaker Pelosi to place impeachment BACK on the table so that we may end our national nightmare and restore our Republic and the Constitution.

I think this guy should be going viral, we need to help him, he makes a lot of sense...

California Draft Gore Poised to Put Gore's Name on Ballot

Thu Sep 27, 2007 at 11:39:45 AM PDT

It is time, my friends, to put shoe leather where we have been runnin' our mouths.

In 25 years of working in the vineyards I still remember what my first mentor in the business used to say, "Nothing happens until you give them something to sign..." Well, here you go... starting on 10/8/2007

So now we in California will begin to move forward in the work ahead, to place the name of Albert Gore Jr. on the California Primary Ballot. I have every confidence that we will be successful in this and that Mr. Gore will join us in October.

You can join us below the fold! We need ya!

The Role of Civilian Contractors in Iraq, Paging Adam Smith...

Wed Sep 05, 2007 at 10:20:56 AM PDT

The Iraq War has seen an unprecedented use of civilian contractors performing functions normally performed by uniformed personnel. They have been used not just to supply the troops but also to provide security for other contractors, Iraqi leadership and even high ranking American officers and critical American military and civilian bases, such as the Green Zone. By Presidential Order they are immune from prosecution by Iraqi courts and American military justice (see 3rd link). In the first case to come to national attention, a lawsuit against Halliburton and subsidiary KBR Inc. on behalf of the families of civilian drivers killed in Iraq (see 1st link) will be heard on Sept. 18th and recently the L.A. Times defied the court seal and Halliburton to print their own investigation (see 2nd link).

Come on down! Below the fold...

Al Gore Presents "Assault on Reason" in Marin

Thu May 24, 2007 at 01:28:35 AM PDT

We have just returned from Marin Civic and Al Gore’s presentation of "Assault on Reason" and it was a very satisfying experience.
I am still sorting out what I really think so bear with me... So who’s got coffee?

I think in essence his point is that, at their root, most of the problems that the Bushies have caused we allowed to happen because, as a nation, our response was not to reason with each other and openly discuss the issues at hand. Indeed we were prevented from the real exercise of reason by the crass exploitation, by the government and the media, of unreasonable jingoistic propaganda and the unrelenting din of unthinking and unreasonable babble. First with 9-11, then the Patriot Act and finally the road to the Iraq War, in each case reasonable discussion, indeed reason itself, was replaced with a reliance on incurious gut reaction and we allowed the emotional propaganda and the echo chamber to overwhelm our responsibility to act reasonably, to reason before we acted.

But...

Army Rejects Joan Baez At Walter Reed....

Wed May 02, 2007 at 03:35:27 PM PDT

This seems to me to be a perfect example of the way these guys think...
And an even better example of something that younger people might not have picked up on...

The 1960's aren't over... GW Bush and the right have decided that a little reversal and revenge is in order... The Elephant never forgets...

But this is about something deeper than the Army or the right keeping and evening the score. It is about how we view the War and how we view the Warriors. The irony is in her reasoning and why she was motivated to do this in the first place.

As a younger contemporary and a child of the Sixties, I think she makes a valid point about confusing the War and the Warrior. My older cousin was one of those guys who came back from Khe Sanh through SFO, straight from 2 years of combat to North Beach, 1970... Skinheaded and in uniform he wasn't exactly welcomed by his peers... Maybe they didn't spit on him but we weren't exactly kind either. And I place myself in that category, I didn't speak to him about what he had been through for decades.

Nightmares and other Dark Horses...

I had a little nightmare last night; I thought I would share it with you all in the hope that seeing it in print will fully exorcize the demons...

Fear.

By nature Americans were not fearful. Of all the world’s communities no other had taken so many "first steps" as had America. Fearful people do not create great nations, traditions and Law from a wilderness in a mere couple of hundred years. A fearful people do not master flight and then reach the moon in the short span of six decades. And of course a fearful people could not live, as Americans did for over two hundred years, under a Constitution that created the most truthful, the most open and balanced Republic since Athens. An open and truthful republic is anathema to a fearful people, for a fearful people must have the means to hide from the truth lest it interfere with "normal life"...

This is the first notice I have seen of the anniversary of President Kennedy’s Assassination. Yesterday the media noted the 28 years since Peoples Temple and MSNBC devoted at least 30 minutes of original program time to it, along with an exhaustive discussion of the racist outburst and staged apology of a minor figure in a long-ago TV show...

But then given the incestuous relationships between the various organs of the media, this does not surprise...
Perhaps if Fox or GE had a book they wanted to push or a movie to plug we would have seen some more attention paid...

Inauguration Day, 1/20/09

Sun Nov 12, 2006 at 05:19:35 PM PDT

I have every confidence that on January 20th, 2009 the attention of the entire world will be focused on the gleaming granite steps of our Capitol Building as Albert Gore Jr. takes the Oath of Office from Justice Roberts. It will mark the beginning of an American redemption, an awakening of something we once called "hope", it will signal to the rest of the World that America is coming back, that we can be believed again, that we can be believed in again, as well...

Letter to Hardball...

Sun Oct 08, 2006 at 09:43:18 AM PDT

Chris,

I have sent you numerous missives...all ignored but hey, you're a busy guy, right?

I saw your interview with Rep McHenry and his sidekick... And I appreciate that you called him on his "questions": more than once. But you gave him an undeserved platform and now I am watching Wolf Blitzer do the same... I also note that Wolf asked McHenry repeatedly if he had any evidence, but the `Honorable' Rep. McHenry continued to maintain the innuendo and the pose of "I'm only asking questions...". Yeah, questions like "Exactly when did you stop drinking and beating your wife and kids?"

Habeas Who?

Fri Sep 29, 2006 at 03:12:45 PM PDT

All,

An American Rubicon has been crossed. The Senate has acquiesced to the Administration, granting it the right to torture as well as retroactive immunity, the power to detain anyone (and that means YOU!) anywhere and for as long as they desire without charges or the possibility of judicial review. The decider gets to decide, and only the decider...

Let the Tribulation Begin....

Tue Jul 04, 2006 at 11:56:17 PM PDT

For it has and no man or woman can stop it...

Soon the Anti Christ will make himself known, for we already know him and he is already powerful...

We are indeed deep into the Tribulation...the Six Years of Strife!

The Anti Christ already enjoys the Power from Washington.

The Rapture has already occurred... The Rapture!

But... Indeed, so few had understood what Christ truly meant by his life, his words and his sacrifice...That when they all were lifted...

No one noticed...

Ah!

What kind of President...

Sat Jul 01, 2006 at 05:22:06 PM PDT

In 2008, unless the unthinkable has actually happened and we just haven't been informed yet, Americans will choose our 44th President, the twelfth President since the rise of America to "superpower" status at the close of World War II. Of these 11 men all were either elected to the office or subsequently re-elected after assuming the office, with the exception of Gerald Ford....

I think it gets intersting below the fold but I haven't finished it yet...so...potluck...

The Clown Prince of the Counterculture is 70, Berkeley Bash 5/20

Sat May 20, 2006 at 11:53:47 AM PDT

Tonight, the Clown Prince of the Counterculture, Wavy Gravy will celebrate his 70th birthday with a benefit concert for the Seva Foundation at Berkeley Community Auditorium. Mayor Tom Bates has declared the week of 5/14-5/20 as Wavy Gravy Week and we will be serenaded by members of the Grateful Dead and others, including special guests...

Al Gore will emerge as the Consensus Candidate in 2008

Thu Apr 20, 2006 at 04:58:44 PM PDT

And rightfully so...

Recently there has been a congressional endorsement, a number of landmark speeches addressing the real problems America faces, a couple of magazine covers and a movie, to be released next month that promises to be the next F911.

And now Mr. Neel...

On ML King Day he was blacked out by the MSM, but he still reached millions via CSPAN, the Internet and the blogs.

I purchased the speech on DVD from CSPAN and it took 3 weeks to arrive, leading me to believe it was popular.

I am not a kid, nor am I disposed toward tilting at windmills. I became a political junkie at age 12, in 1968, my baptism of fire being the Chicago Convention which I attended asa young page from Oklahoma. Suffice as to say that the "bug" lives here...
